It would no longer be business as usual for staff and visitors that are coming into the campus as the University Management has put in place effective checks on those that fail to adhere to safety protocols against the prevention and spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The need to go tough on defaulters became necessary as the University Management has observed that some staff and visitors are not complying with the announced safety protocols regarding the wearing of face masks.
The Registrar of the University, Dr. ‘Bola Adekola stated that security personnel at the main entrance had been mandated to turn back staff or visitors who fail to comply with the directives, adding that “It is also compulsory to wear the face mask throughout the period of stay on campus. All staff are also admonished to stay in their offices while at work and not to loiter around the corridors or moving from one office to the other without any official reason for doing so”. The Registrar stressed that “It must be emphasised that there is a need to take personal responsibility for observing safety protocols against COVID-19 at this time more than any other time”. The Registrar buttressed that the regulation on frequent washing of hands and the use of sanitizers is still in force, as he admonished all to observe the safety protocols as announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) at personal and public places including the campus.
