The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, September 18, 2026, held a special prayer session for fresh students admitted for the 2026/2027 Academic Session, seeking divine guidance, protection, wisdom and discernment for the students as they commence their academic journey.
The prayer sessions, held at the University Mosque and the Chapel of Grace respectively, focused on the students’ academic success, personal wellbeing, peaceful coexistence, purposeful living and overall fulfilment throughout their stay at the University.
Addressing the students at the Mosque, the Dean, Student Affairs Division, Prof. Festus Adeosun, urged them to shun social vices, drug abuse and other negative behaviours capable of undermining their academic pursuits and future aspirations.
Prof. Adeosun encouraged the students to uphold moral values, demonstrate love and respect for one another, and make responsible choices as members of the University Community.
He commended the leadership of the Mosque for its continued role in providing spiritual guidance and support to students, urging the religious community to sustain its commitment to nurturing students through sound teachings and positive values.
The Dean assured the students that the Student Affairs Division remained committed to their welfare, noting that the Division operates in loco parentis to ensure that their legitimate needs and concerns are adequately addressed.
Prof. Adeosun also offered prayers for the success of the students and made a token donation to support the Mosque.
In response, the Mosque leadership appreciated the Dean for his visit, support and commitment to student welfare, while offering prayers for wisdom, strength and a successful tenure.
At the Chapel, Prof. Adeosun similarly charged the fresh students to embrace love, unity, peaceful coexistence and other virtues capable of promoting a harmonious and supportive University Community.
He reiterated his call for the students to avoid negative influences, remain focused on their studies, make responsible decisions and seek appropriate guidance whenever necessary.
The Chapel leadership also appreciated the Dean for his support and prayed for wisdom and strength as he continues to serve the students and the University Community.
Among those present at the prayer sessions were the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development and the Patron of the Student Union, Prof. Kola Adebayo; the Student Union Government executives, led by Comrade Soga Oluwatimileyin; the Students’ Representative Assembly, led by Comrade Agboola Aliyah; and executives of the Hall of Representatives.
The special prayers formed part of activities designed to welcome, orientate and support the new students as they commence their academic journey at FUNAAB.
