In a bid to enhance institutional capacity and ensure seamless implementation of newly affiliated programmes, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has organised a Two-Day Capacity-Building Workshop for Academic and support staff of the Federal College of Agriculture and Technology, Ibadan (FCAIB), from April 14 to 15, 2025.
Held at the College’s Main Hall, the workshop commenced with a warm welcome by the Acting Provost of FCAIB, Engr. (Dr.) Olusegun Adejumo, who highlighted the importance of continuous capacity development in achieving academic excellence.
Delivering the Opening Remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), FUNAAB, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, stressed the need for shared academic standards, strong ethical values, and a cohesive academic culture as foundations for a successful affiliation. He articulated the objectives of the workshop and formally declared the session open.
The first technical session featured Prof. Morenike Dipeolu, former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic at FUNAAB, who facilitated an engaging discourse on University Ethics and Culture. Using real-life case studies, she encouraged participants to reflect on professional conduct and institutional expectations. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment that deepened understanding and stimulated meaningful dialogue.
The second session, led by Prof. Babatunde Idowu, former Vice-Chancellor of Glorious Vision University, Ogwa, focused on Pedagogy and Examination Standards. He delivered a detailed presentation on effective techniques for setting examination questions, processing results, and adhering to regulatory standards governing examinations. He noted the need for transparency, fairness, and integrity in assessment processes. Another dynamic Q&A session followed, allowing participants to seek clarifications and share perspectives.
Prof. Akinyemi later provided further insight into the structure, expectations, and academic framework of the new affiliated programmes, urging staff to put the knowledge gained into practice.
Other notable Resource Persons at the workshop included Prof. Olajide Sogunle, Director, Directorate of Academic Planning, FUNAAB; Prof. Christopher Alake, Academic Coordinator, FCAIB; and Prof. Emmanuel Idehen, Academic Coordinator, OYSCATECH.
The FCAIB Team was well-represented by Dr. Elizabeth Augustus, Immediate Past Provost; members of the College Management Team; Deans; Heads of Departments; Academic staff; and Heads of relevant Units.
The workshop successfully laid a solid foundation for the implementation of the new affiliated programmes, reinforcing a shared vision of academic excellence, ethical practices, and institutional synergy between FUNAAB and FCAIB.
