FUNAAB Muslim Community Appreciates Retirees

The Muslim Community of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta has organised a Send-Forth in honour of its retirees.

Delivering his Address at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Bolanle Akeredolu-Ale stated that a lot of good things can be said about the Muslim retirees that served the University.

The Vice-Chancellor stated that the retirees have laid a good example for those coming behind, noting that though they have left the services of the University, he expressed hope that anytime they are called upon they will honour the University’s invitation.

Admonishing the retirees, Amir, FUNAAB Muslim Community, Prof. Lateef Sanni appreciated the retired staff for honouring the invitation, stressing that the Muslim body in FUNAAB is indivisible. He sued for unity among Muslims and charged Muslims not to fight for position because all that Allah planned to do for everyone shall manifest.

The Amir prayed for Allah’s guidance over its members as he appreciated the Muslim Co-operative Society for the donation of money for the welfare of students.

            The retirees are Prof. Toyin Arowolo, former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic); Dr. Mulikat Salaam, former University Librarian; Alhaji Kasali Adenekan, a foremost Administrator in the University; Alhaji Kamardeen Adedo, former President, FUNAAB Cooperative Society and Professor Muftau Oyekunle, former Director, Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Others are Mr. Wasiu Okeyale, Mr. Saliu Ayinde, Mr. Olaniyi Muritala, Mr. Ramon Balogun and Mr. Adekunle Haruna, all of who have served the University in various capacities.

Brief admonition and lecture were delivered by the Imam of Isale Igbein, Prof. Sharafadeen Abdul-Ganiu who charged Muslims to be prayerful and thank Allah in their daily activities.

            The high point of the event was the launching of an autobiography of the former University Librarian, Dr. Mulikat Salaam.
