The University has partnered the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) for the training of its academic and non-teaching staff through the “Self-leadership through Personal Branding and Assertiveness” programme. At the event, the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) and Chair, Steering Committee of AWARD, Prof. Lateef Sanni, stressed the need for the participants to be productive, courageous, and assertive so as to excel in their careers. “Whatever you want to be, something would lead you there, which is your integrity, pro-activeness, and productivity. Stop procrastinating, face your fear and do it anyway”, he stated.
The Director, FUNAAB Universal Conservices (FUCONS) Limited and one of the founding members of AWARD, Dr. Petra Abdulsalam-Saghir, disclosed that AWARD was founded for empowering and mentoring others, noting that the body had impacted many people positively in Africa. She charged the participants to make good use of the empowerment programme, stressing that the training would help them become better persons with the ability to discover their hidden talents and potentials. She observed that good attitude would help them go far in life and that whatever one knows how to do best, it should be pursued very well. The trainees were taken through different practical sessions during the programme.
