The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is set to partner with C. Woermann Nigeria Limited in a landmark initiative aimed at improving access to modern agricultural machinery and training for farmers and stakeholders across Ogun State.

The proposed partnership would see the establishment of an outlet on the FUNAAB campus where farm tools and equipment would be made readily available. The outlet would also serve as a training centre to equip farmers, students, and agricultural stakeholders with practical knowledge on the use and maintenance of modern farming equipment.

Welcoming the delegation from C. Woermann to his Office today, June 5, 2025, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, expressed appreciation to the company for choosing to collaborate with FUNAAB. He described the initiative as timely and impactful, stressing that the University was open to partnerships that align with its mandate of driving agricultural development.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the partnership would benefit several stakeholders within the University Community including the FUNAAB Alumni Farm, Staff Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and student training programmes. He emphasised that it would allow students to gain hands-on experience with advanced machinery before graduation, thus giving them a competitive edge in the agricultural sector.

Prof. Kehinde added that the presence of C. Woermann on campus would save time and resources for those who would otherwise travel long distances to procure essential farm equipment, expressing confidence that the partnership would strengthen agricultural productivity within and beyond the precinct of the University.

Earlier in his remarks, the General Manager of C. Woermann Nigeria Limited, Mr. Lars Kloehn, described FUNAAB as a strategic location for the company’s outreach efforts, given its reputation as a leading agricultural institution. He noted that the company intended to provide training-of-trainers programmes to ensure the sustainability and spread of modern farming techniques.
