As part of efforts to alleviate the hardship currently being experienced as a result of COVID-19 pandemic, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako, leading a team of the University’s Principal Officers, visited the palace of the Alaiyeluwa of Odogbolu, Oba Adedeji Olusegun Onagoruwa and the Adele of Ode Lemo, High Chief Oluwashoga Fagade, respectively.
Prof. Salako identified with the untold hardship the COVID-19 pandemic had caused citizens of the country, stressing that as a palliative measure, the institution is supporting the aged in the community with products from the University. The Vice-Chancellor also commended the Royal Fathers for the support and cooperation enjoyed by the University and her students who undergo their Farm Practical Year programme under the FUNAAB Community-Based Farming Scheme (COBFAS) in the two communities. He stressed that by their hospitality, the University has become part and parcel of the communities.
Responding, Oba Onagoruwa appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and the entire University Management for their generosity, assuring that the community would continue to support the University and her students and would always live in peace and harmony with them. Speaking on behalf of the Adele of Ode Lemo, High Chief Fagade, Chief Bayo Olusanya described the visit of the Vice-Chancellor and her management team to the community as homecoming, noting that they have proved beyond doubt to be worthy sons on the soil. He appreciated the University for her thoughtfulness and love for the community and her members, urging the Vice-Chancellor to make his visits to the community more frequent.
High Chief Fagade also assured the University of his commitment to sustain the cordial relationship which exists with the University and her students, while praying for renewed strength and progress for the Vice-Chancellor and the University in general. Some of the relief materials donated by the University included garri, palm oil, sachet water, bottled water, bread, palm wine, eggs, face masks, among others.
