FUNAAB Strengthens Ties with Host Communities

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) received in Courtesy-Visit, the Area Baale of Isolu, Emere, and Atadi villages, led by Chief Mahdiu Sabitu Iredele, today, August 30, 2024.

The meeting, held at the Green Chamber, was aimed to foster peaceful co-existence, harmonious relationships and enhanced security between FUNAAB and the surrounding communities.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, while welcoming the delegation, emphasised the importance of collaboration between the University and the host communities, soliciting for more enhanced security measures to ensure growth and development.

Prof. Kehinde also assured the visitors of mutual cooperation and open communication, inviting them to visit his office whenever necessary.

Responding, Chief Mahdiu Iredele, Area Baale of Isolu, Emere, Atadi stated that his community was ready to partner with the University in the areas of security, adding that all-hands were on deck by each village and adjoining communities to checkmate crimes and other vices.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde with the Area Baale of Isolu Emere Atadi, Chief Mahdiu Iredele and other Principal Officers, as well as the Chiefs in the Baale’s entourage.

Chief Iredele also appreciated the University for the development it has brought to Isolu, Emere, Atadi and its environment, noting that the villages would also like to benefit from the University, as regards CSR in the areas of admission for their sons and daughters who met the necessary requirements for admission into FUNAAB, among others.

The meeting was attended by Principal Officers, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo, Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu, representative of the University Librarian, Dr. Idayat Agboola and the DR II, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr. Moses Ayanda, among others.

Others on the Baale’s delegation included Chief Sunday Alao Oluyomi (Otun Area Baale), Chief Ganiyu Akinsanya (Baale Balogun – Awututu village), and other community leaders.

The Courtesy-Visit marked a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between FUNAAB and its host communities, promoting peaceful co-existence and mutual understanding.
