The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been named the mentoring institution for the newly established Owolabi University, Oke Ila Orangun, Osun State, following the latter’s approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Owolabi University, established by Bishop Owolabi, was granted its operating licence by the NUC on July 24, 2026, with approval to commence academic activities in three Faculties that are Allied Sciences, Sciences and Computing, and Management Sciences, comprising 15 academic programmes across nine departments.
During a courtesy visit to FUNAAB on August 6, 2026, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, assured the delegation of the University’s commitment to providing the necessary mentorship and support to ensure a successful take-off. He also advised the team to engage with the Heads of relevant units in FUNAAB as part of preparations for their forthcoming NUC Resource Verification exercise.
The Owolabi University delegation was led by the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Samuel Adedotun, and included the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. James Agbolade, and the Bursar, Mr. Festus Oladokun. The meeting was attended by FUNAAB’s Principal Officers and the Senior Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr. Moses Ayanda.
