… As VC Harps on Fear of God, Need For Harmony

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), witnessed a momentous occasion, recently as it hosted the 34th Ramadan Lecture at the FUNAAB Central Mosque.
Titled “Surviving the Profane World: Antidote from Islamic Principles,” the event served as a beacon of enlightenment and spiritual guidance for the University Community.
Amidst the tranquil ambience, attendees were welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, who stressed the paramount importance of operating in the fear of God.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo, the Vice-Chancellor conveyed a message of peace and unity, highlighting the necessity of harmony in navigating the challenges of the present economy.
Addressing the Faithfuls, the Chairman of the Day, and the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Osun State, Barr. (Dr.) Mutiu Agboke urged Muslims to embrace the teachings of Ramadan with patience and introspection.
In his Lecture, the Guest Lecturer, Imam Abd-Lateef Ballo Omoloye, delivered a profound discourse on the theme, elucidating the significance of Islamic principles in countering the allure of the profane world.
Imam Abd-Lateef’s explanations on the concepts of “Profane,” “Antidote,” and “Principles” resonated with the audience, offering insights into navigating life’s complexities through faith and righteousness.
His exposition on the four types of soul provided a framework for self-reflection and spiritual growth, emphasising the importance of seeking guidance and maintaining humility in the face of worldly temptations.
The event also marked a significant milestone with donations towards the Masjid Project (University Mosque), underscoring the Community’s commitment to fostering spiritual development and infrastructure enhancement.
In attendance were notable figures including College members, and distinguished community leaders, whose presence reflects the collective dedication to spiritual enrichment and communal harmony.
