All seems to be taking shape with the installation of the Solar Power Project in the University.
The recent development is evident in the concrete electricity poles that are being erected along the FUNAAB Camp road and it has been reliably gathered that the poles are part of the Solar Project.
During a chat with FUNAAB Bulletin , the Director, Works and Services, Engr. Olawole Akinyele disclosed that the poles were coming from Paramount FM, along Kobape road.
Engr. Akinyele added that the poles were for a dedicated line to supply backup power to the Solar directly from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
With this development, he revealed that the University’s Solar Project would not depend on the Ibadan Electricity Development Company (IBEDC).
It would be recalled that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde during a visit to the project site recently, expressed satisfaction on the development so far, while he seized the opportunity to engage with the project contractor and consultants on the completion date.
When completed, the Solar Project is poised to revolutionalise the University’s energy capabilities and ease the plight of staff members, as regards uninterrupted power supply.
