The FUNAAB International School (FUNIS) Red Cross Unit has been rated the best by the Odeda Divisional Secretary of the Red Cross Society, Mr. Adedayo Aiyegbokiki at the reiteration programme held recently in the school. According to Mr. Aiyegbokiki, “In Odeda Division, FUNIS is the best unit that we have at the moment”. As a follow-up to the endorsement, he said the way people could be of value to the society was by offering quality services to humanity, noting that one of such channels was the Red Cross Society.
The Head of Guidance and Counselling Unit of FUNIS, Mr. Aina Gbolahan urged the coordinator to seek more fund from the organisation so that the unit could acquire more equipment, which would enable the students to put into practice what they were taught whenever the need arises. Speaking at the event, a member of the Girls’ Guide, Abigail Oroleye, lauded FUNIS for providing an opportunity for instilling hands-on skills and training on the students. She stressed that learning the habit of rendering assistance at young age would adequately help the country by reducing the number of emergency cases related to health. The Coordinator, FUNIS Red Cross Unit, Mrs. Aanuolu Oyewumi, disclosed that the movement started in Nigeria in 1917. A play was staged titled ‘Adamorisha’ with the purpose of raising funds for wounded soldiers at war.
