Parents and guardians of students of the Federal University of Agriculture International School (FUNIS) have expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations put in place towards the full resumption of academic activities. Expressing their delight on having their children and wards back to school, Mrs. Adefunke Johnson said the preparations were in tandem with the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)  protocols, “It is good that government was able to take a stand on resumption because if they had not resumed today, the children would have felt really bad and they are happy to be back to school”, she said.

Mr. Adebiyi Adeoye.

Another parent, Mr. Adebiyi Adeoye said, “We are excited seeing our wards and children resuming school. The time spent at home was not a waste at all as online learning took place and that kept them busy and from what I can see, the preparation made by the school is simply excellent with full compliance with the COVID-19 protocols”. Speaking on how safe it is for students to return to school, the Hostel Master, Mr. Samuel Adedayo assured that there was nothing to fear as regards having the students back to school as the management had put in place all the necessary protocols recommended by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

According to him, “Aside the enforcement of regularly washing of hands under running water and the use of soap, the students have also been educated on the proper way of wearing their face masks, given sufficient orientation on COVID-19 and ways to keep safe”.

Mrs. Abimbola Ayanwale, a teacher said “It is good to have the students back after staying at home for so long. As soon as we heard of the Federal Government’s regulations and all that we needed to put in place, the Vice-Chancellor and the Management came together to give us everything we needed and we communicated with the parents to bring all requirements and basically, they brought packs of face masks and sanitisers in addition to what the school has provided for their use. During the COVID-19 break, the school had virtual lessons with the students so as not to keep them idle, we have even started the scheme of work and so we are good to go”, she further disclosed.
