FUNIS Trains SS3 Students’ on Success Strategies

The Principal of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta International school (FUNIS), Mr. Isaac Ogunbunmi has revealed that no stone will be left unturned towards ensuring that the school consolidates and improve on its academic standards to be ranked as one of the top three in the state.

Speaking after a Training programme on Success Strategic organised by the Guidance and Counseling unit of the school for Senior Secondary School (SSS 3) students to prepare them for their forthcoming external examinations, Mr. Ogunbunmi said that “The results of the external examinations of last year was one of the best result in the history of the school. However, people should watch out as this year’s results would be better than that of last year, God helping us”.

The Principal disclosed that regular training for both staff and students is one of the many tactics put in place by the school for academic excellence.

            Earlier in a presentation titled, “Success Strategy Tips”, the Guest Speaker and Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. Kola Adepoju said success mean different things to different people depending on the circumstance and situation.

            Represented by the Assistant Director (Media), Mrs. Stella Kayode, he said success for students in secondary school should mean academic excellence and the achievement of desired visions and planned goals which according to him require planning, hard work, focus, determination and prayers.  

            He admonished the students to set achievable goals for themselves, draw up personal reading timetables, join study groups and never be ashamed to ask questions or seek clarifications when in doubt.

            Corroborating the Head, Public Relations, the immediate past Students’ Union President and Founder ‘LeadHeart Initiative’, Comrade Michael Oloyede said academic success is a serious business and students should not allow themselves to be distracted from their main priority which is to attain academic excellence.

            He revealed that although service to others is equally very important but it should not be at the detriment of their studies as they can only impact on others where they themselves are successful in their academics.

            The Keynote Speaker and Guidance and Counselor expert, Mr. Charles Udoruisi, informed the students that they have all been given equal opportunities to succeed in life but their attitude to life would determine their success.

            He advised the students not to look for success in crude ways but rather work hard, persevere and strive towards attaining success. In attendance is the Guidance and Counseling officers of the School Mrs. Abigail Oroleye and Mr. Emmanuel Aina
