The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has reaffirmed that the culture of giving back and supporting student success remained one of the University’s strongest traditions, as the FUNAAB Alumni Association, USA Branch and the Dr. Abdul Fattah Durojaiye Kind Heart Foundation jointly sponsored a ₦14 million School Charges Intervention Programme for indigent students.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the sponsors for their sustained commitment to students’ welfare, describing the gesture as a powerful demonstration of the “FUNAAB spirit,” a culture defined by excellence, compassion, and loyalty to one’s alma mater.

According to him, the University remained proud of its alumni who continue to invest in the institution’s growth and in the lives of its students. He urged the beneficiaries to embrace the opportunity with gratitude and a sense of responsibility.
“Whenever there is a free lunch, somebody is paying. Take good care of this opportunity and remember that privilege comes with responsibility,” he cautioned. The Vice-Chancellor added that FUNAAB would continue to provide an enabling environment for students to thrive and uphold the institution’s reputation for producing globally competitive graduates.

Speaking on behalf of the FUNAAB Alumni Association, USA Branch, the Global President of the Association, Mr. Bolaji Gbadamosi, commended the University Management for its cooperation and announced that the group had already credited ₦14 million to the University’s account to cover school charges for selected beneficiaries.
He stressed that the support comes with no expectations other than academic diligence and exemplary conduct. “Your success motivates us to do more,” he told the beneficiaries, affirming the Association’s commitment to sustaining its impact.

Mr. Gbadamosi also celebrated FUNAAB’s rising global reputation, noting that the University’s status as the number one University of Agriculture in Africa and seventh globally continues to inspire the alumni community.
