The Ovie R’Uvwie Kingdom in Effurun, Delta State has honoured the Head of the University’s Directorate of Public Relations, Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Ogugua Onwuka, MCIPM, MNIPR with the Distinguished Corporate Leadership Award for her immense contributions to the successful take-off and rapid development of Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) as pioneer Registrar.
The prestigious Award, held at the Jubilee Conference Centre, Effurun was part of activities marking the 10th Coronation Anniversary of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM (Dr.) Emmanuel E. Sideso, Abe 1, (JP) OON.
Conferring the Award on Dr. (Mrs.) Onwuka, HRM Sideso disclosed that it was in recognition of her landmark contributions to the educational advancement, social and economic development of Uvwie Kingdom, through her unparallel efforts as pioneer Registrar of FUPRE.
The Royal Father said that the presence of FUPRE in his domain today has rapidly developed Uvwie Kingdom, pointing out that if not for the commitment of the likes of Dr. Onwuka who laid solid foundation for the University, the institution wouldn’t have been able to contribute meaningfully to the progress of his domain.
Ovie Sideso stated further that he hoped that the Award “will spur Dr. Onwuka further to remain a worthy and proud ambassador of Uvwie Kingdom”.
Responding to her conferment, Dr. Onwuka described it as the faithfulness of God in her life, adding that the honour is a challenge, to serve humanity with diligence in any area of calling.
She thanked the Ovie, his Chiefs and the entire people of Uvwie for recognizing and appreciating her modest contributions to the Kingdom and FUPRE, in particular.
Dr. Onwuka was accompanied to the conferment ceremony by her husband, a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the University, Professor Chyrss Onwuka.
Present at the Award were the Vice-Chancellor of FUPRE, Professor Akaehomen Okonigbon Ibhadode and the Registrar, Mr. Ejikemenwor Morrison Ichendu. Others are Barrister (Mrs.) Ndidi Odife (her sister) and Mrs. Gina Jackson.
Meanwhile, Dr. Onwuka has been inducted as a member of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) at an Induction Ceremony, held in Lagos.
Dr. Onwuka successfully completed her training and orientation programmes which earned her the prestigious membership of the highly reputed Institute.
With her full-fledge membership status, the Head of the University Directorate of Public Relations is now eligible to affix MNIPR after her name.
