The Board Chairman, International Centre for Professional Development (ICPD) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) of  the University, Professor Felix Salako, has charged students not to be idle but to always keep themselves busy. He made this call during the closing ceremony of the ICPD Summer School, held recently.

Professor Salako, who expressed satisfaction at the completion of the programme, urged participants not to take what they had learnt for granted, but to rather build on it. He drew examples from countries like the United States of America and India, which used various computer software developed by them, for human advancement. He expressed satisfaction at the rate at which young people were keying-into computer technology, which according to him was one of the reasons why the Summer School was put in place.

The Co-ordinator of the Centre, Mr. Lawrence Kazeem, said that the focus of the ICPD was to train participants and make them employable. He disclosed that the Centre was established in June 2014, and is affiliated to the Bright Sword Technologies (Pte) Limited, Singapore; the National University of Singapore (NUS); Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP); and the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, among other organisations.

Mr. Kazeem expressed satisfaction that the first set of students had graduated from the Summer School, while thanking the Chairman of ICPD Board and parents of the graduating students for the successes recorded so far. A board member of the ICPD, Hon. Biodun Adeogun, also congratulated the participants, as he described the training exercise as worthwhile, stressing the need for the University to publicise the programme for better awareness in order to increase the number of participants before the commencement of the next edition.

Two successful participants, Tomisin Owoade and Christopher Ofooluwayan, who spoke on behalf of other participants, stated that the training afforded them an opportunity to gain more knowledge in computer technology and feel the beautiful scenery of FUNAAB, as all the students were also presented with certificates.
