Dear Content Contributor,
Many world-class Universities nowadays are cultivating stronger relationship with Learning Management System (LMS) platform in supporting learning and teaching. Elwin Jones and Katherine Quinley, corroborate this fact in their published article titled, “Cultivating Stronger Relationships with Online Faculty through an On-Campus Visitation Programme”.
A Learning Management System (LMS) is a software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting and delivery of e-learning education courses or training programmes.
LMSs range from systems for managing training and educational records to software for distributing online or blended/hybrid college courses over the Internet with features for online collaboration. Colleges and Universities use LMSs to deliver online courses and augment on-campus courses. Corporate training departments use LMSs to deliver online training, automate record-keeping and employee registration processes.
World-class Professors are now inspiring students and world at large in their areas of specialisation by posting videos in the form of teaching as Massive Open Online Courses. Examples of such LMSs are found in: https://iversity.org and https://cousera.org.
FUNAAB scholars can encourage our students to make use of e-resources on these LMS sites in addition to lecture materials given to them while courses could be taken online for free of charge. Also, our faculty members can register with these LMS sites with the intention of bridge the knowledge gap or contributing contents to the LMS sites in the fields of Agriculture, Food Science, Environmental Resources Management that are not readily available on the two LMS sites mentioned above.
I wish that our Professors and scholars would take up the challenge and make FUNAAB the first and the best University in Africa and the world at large by launching massive, open and online courses in Agriculture since FUNAAB is a specialized institution. We want the world learn from us. Yes, we can do it. We can achieve it!
I equally attach the screen shots of how to sign up and access online materials from: coursera.org and iversity.org
Thank you.
