Management Clarifies, Tackles Security Breach On Campus … As FUNAAB Security Men Showcase Professionalism

The Management of the University has reported the activities of the team of armed Policemen who caused security breach on Campus on Tuesday by escorting a student who came to write his papers close to the examination hall after refusing to stop for the normal security check to the Police authorities

Beside, the student involved had been interrogated, his statement taken and will be further investigated before being brought before the Students’ Disciplinary Committee for breaching the security rules of the University.

Management disclosed this in an official statement titled, “Report on the Incident of Armed Escort to the Examination Centre” signed by the Registrar, Dr. ‘Bola Adekola and made available to the Directorate of Public Relations.

Mental alertness, swift action and professionalism were the key work ethos displayed by FUNAAB security operatives on Tuesday August 17, 2021 when a strange security breach occurred on campus,

According to the Statement, an unknown person was escorted into the University campus by a team of policemen who refused to stop for the normal security check.

Undaunted, eagle-eyed security operatives who are staff of the University’s Environmental Management Unit promptly alerted the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Peter Bolarinwa while they placed tab on the intruding strange men (who came in two vehicles).

The CSO in like fashion promptly directed his men to comb the Campus to fish out the vehicles.

The policemen were later found outside one of the University lecture halls where examination was ongoing.

The policemen were interrogated to know their missions and why they breached the security of the campus. 

It was found out later that the policemen escorted a student of the University to campus for the purpose of writing examination.

The affected student, upon interrogation, claimed to have requested for armed protection because, according to him, his life was under threat from some unidentified people.

The University Security men quickly deflated the tyres of the car brought in and the policemen were directed to leave the campus immediately.

The University Management has already got wind of the case and has officially taken up the matter with the Police.

According to a report on the incident by the Registrar, Dr. Bola Adekola, “the activities of the policemen had since been reported to the Police authorities while the student involved had been interrogated, his statement taken and will be further investigated before being brought before the  Students’ Disciplinary Committee for breaching the security rules of the university”
