The Management of the University has paid a Courtesy Call on security agencies in Ogun State, seeking more support in the areas of proactive security measures, sharing of information and intelligence, as well as sustaining the peace being enjoyed on campus and neighbouring communities.
Speaking at the office of the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Illiasu, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako commended him and his officers for ensuring peace and stability in Ogun State and the University in particular, adding that truly police is everyone’s friend.
Professor Salako who noted that there was no way a society could exist without having some deviants, adding that the main purpose of the visit was to seek more support towards combating crime.
Commenting earlier on his emergence as the sixth substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Salako described it as the act of God.
Responding, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Illiasu reiterated the importance of academics to the development of the society, adding that one of the essence of education was orderliness and should be bequeathed to the upcoming ones.
At the Department of State Services (DSS) Office at Oke-Mosan, the Vice-Chancellor said that without adequate security, an administration could not run successfully, noting that the University was interested in establishing mutual relationship with the security agencies.
Professor Salako commended the DSS for their astuteness in intelligence gathering to prevent break down of law and order, calling for more support for the University and the Management.
Responding, the Director, DSS, Mr. Kabiru Sani congratulated the new Management of the University, admonishing them to contribute to the sustainance of the relative peace on campus and its environs.
He stressed the need for maximum cooperation with the ‘plain clothes’ men in order to maintain and enjoy lasting peace on campus and adjoining communities.
Present at both visits were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Professor Lateef Sanni; the Registrar, Dr. Bola Adekola; the Bursar, Mr. Chukwunwike Ezekpeazu and the Acting University Librarian, Dr.(Mrs.) Fehintola Onifade.
Others were the Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Onwuka; the Deputy Director II, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu and the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Mr. Bolarinwa Peters, among others.
