According to the Monarch, the Training which is one of the many empowerment opportunities enjoyed from the University is apt and it would serve as an eye opener for participants.

Oba Tella assured the University on behalf of his community that the knowledge gained from the Training would be put to good use.

Earlier in her Welcome Address, the Director of AMREC, Professor Dorcas Adegbite who was represented by the Deputy Director, AMREC, Dr. Olalekan Olukunle disclosed that Nigeria is among the largest fish consumers in the world with fish providing 40% of the human protein intake.

She, however, noted that according to Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, Nigeria is not producing enough fish and fish products and as such, there is a huge supply-demand gap in the Country.

The Director charged participants to take advantage of the Training to acquire the needed skills and broaden their knowledge in fish farming for improved agricultural production, economic status and healthy living.
