NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT VC Salutes NUJ …Promise to leave enduring legacy

The University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako has commended journalists in the country for contributing immensely to national development, assuring that he will strive to leave an enduring legacy typical of Iwe Irohin which Henry Townsend bequeathed on Nigerian Journalism.

Speaking during his Courtesy Visit to the Executives of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Professor Salako declared, “I cherish your immense contributions to national development, I respect journalism a lot, it is very heartwarming to be in a place like this”.

Speaking further, Professor Salako said “Iwe Irohin is an enduring legacy of Egbaland contributions to communication, that is the kind of legacy I want to leave behind”.

Fielding questions from newsmen on Federal Government on the scrapping of Management Science courses in Agric specialized Universities, the Vice-Chancellor said, “we are still pushing it. Vice-Chancellor of concerned universities are still discussing it”.

He added, “I want to commend our Baba, the Alake of Egbaland, he has taken it to the presidency”.

“The process is going on, the issue of our Baba, the Alake of Egbaland coming in has been very significant”.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied to the Press Centre by senior officials of the University including the Head of Directorate of Public Relations, Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Ogugua Onwuka.

Immediately after the Courtesy Visit, the Chairman of NUJ, Ogun State Council, Comrade Wole Sokunbi led the Vice-Chancellor and his entourage on facility tour of Iwe Irohin Press Centre.
