The Governing Council of the University has shifted the annual “Night of Excellence” to a future date, in order to allow for full participation of staff, students and the entire members of the Academic Community.
Contrary to spurious insinuations that Night of Excellence, hitherto held January 1 has been cancelled, the Management stated that based on the popular demand of members of the University Community, the Award Dinner will now hold as part of major activities, marking the University Silver Jubilee Anniversary.
Noting that the anniversary will be celebrated in phases throughout the year, Management explained that a date that will allow for full participation of staff and students will be communicated to the University Community soon.
The Management described as baseless and erroneous, speculations that it has cancelled Night of Excellence.
It disclosed that the Governing Council re-scheduled Night of Excellence, based on the recommendation of Senate.
According to the Management, Senate recommendations was based on complaints by members of the University Community that the January 1st date, hitherto fixed for the hosting of Night of Excellence, being a public holiday and the first day of the year is neither suitable nor convenient for them.
