No Robbery within FUNAAB Premises – Management

Published On:

October 25, 2019

The University Management has debunked claims that robbery attacks took place within its premises. At a press conference, addressed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Felix Salako, he described as untrue, malicious and defamatory, the published story alleging that management had banned FUNAAB students from protesting after robbers invaded their hostels three times within a week. The Vice-Chancellor further clarified that though, there were some unfortunate robbery incidents that were reported to have occurred during the week in question, but they took place off-campus in privately-owned hostels located some kilometers far away from the University, which was outside the jurisdiction of FUNAAB.

Professor Salako said that University Management had maintained a cordial relationship with students, which made it illogical to gag them from expressing themselves or denying them their fundamental rights, as free citizens of Nigeria, especially when they were being robbed. He cautioned agents of disturbance to steer clear of FUNAAB campus, and avoid plotting to incite the peace-loving students of the University. The Vice-Chancellor promised that his administration, in conjunction with all the security agencies in Ogun State, especially the Nigeria Police Force, is resolute on protecting every student, irrespective of where they were domiciled. Similarly, a press release signed by the Registrar, Dr. ‘Bola Adekola issued on the matter, stressing that no robbery incident took place within the University premises.
