PLEASE CHECK ON YOUR CHILDREN IN SCHOOL- FUNAAB V.C Charges Parents

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Kolawole Salako has urged parents and guidance to always check their children in their schools, whether day or boarding student.  He made this submission during the Christmas Carol and End of the year Programme organised by the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Staff School.

Prof. Salako who noted that children are a blessing from God and deserves to be properly cared for, observed with displeasure the increasing rate at which bullying  is on-going in schools nowadays and calls for the urgent attention of concerned stakeholders.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, bullying has been in existence in schools since time immemorial but of late is getting worse. He stressed that children, especially boys require special attention by their parents, noting that the terrible videos of young people abusing drugs is getting rampant.

“You need to pay attention to your children, their attitude and character during the holiday, and this is a task for both parents,” he stressed.

Delivering the Sermon at the occasion, the Chief Imam of FUNAAB Muslim community, Prof. Idris Ayinde advised the children to always do what is right if they wish to excel and be great in life.

He said every individual is equal in the sight of God and must be respected and treated with love. He further charged the children not to join bad gangs in order to receive favour from God and make their parents and the society proud.

The clergy prayed for the University Management as their tenure comes to an end in 2022 for a successful completion devoid of crisis and disaster.

Earlier, the Head-teacher, FUNAAB Staff School, Mrs. Florence Alade in her Welcome Address appreciated the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako for his unending and unflinching support for the staff and Pupils of FUNAAB Staff School, noting that it has been manifested through his constant visits to the school in order to encourage, motivate and meet their material and educational needs as a loving caring father since he came on board to pilot the affairs of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

She lauded the Vice-Chancellor for buying three talking drums for the school recently. Mrs. Alade also appreciated the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Bolanle Akeredolu-Ale, for ensuring that Staff school offers World best practices as far as the educational training of the pupils is concerned.

She commended the staff both teaching and non-teaching staff, for their total commitment to their work.

Deputy Dean Student Affairs, Dr. Adeboye Fafiolu who represented the Chaplain of Chapel of Grace, Prof. Christain Ikeobi, prayed for increase, blessing, progress and testimonies of good tidings for the Pupils, Teachers, University Management and Parents.

Highlights of the event were presentations by the staff, parents and pupils of FUNAAB Staff School and reading of lessons.
