RSS Launches Nigerian Local Group in FUNAAB

The Royal Statistical Society (RSS), United Kingdom has launched its Nigerian local group (RSS-NLG) in the University.

The local group which is the first of its kind to be launched in Nigeria is to be chaired by Dr. Olaniyi Olayiwola, a Senior Lecturer in the University’s Department of Statistics whose current research centres around climate modelling.

The group aims to organize an annual programme of events and talks on statistical topics to engage the statistical community and bring together people with interest in statistics.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako has since assured of the University’s support for the Society, stressing his belief that the initiative will further enhance a mutually beneficial  relationship between the Society and the University in various ways.
