Directorate of Physical Planning

(DPP)

The Directorate of Physical Planning handles the physical planning and development activities of the University. It is directly under the Vice-Chancellor’s Office. The Directorate’s functions demand teamwork and participation of the key professionals in the built environment that includes: Architects, Planners, Surveyors, Engineers (Civil, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical), and other relevant Administrative and Secretarial Staff.

Vision

To ensure orderly and balanced development of a well-built physical environment, that is effective and efficient in functions and aesthetics that are suitable and sustainable for the fulfillment of the University’s mandate in Teaching, Research and Extension Services that would meet the required global standards as a Centre of Excellence.

Mission

To develop the University’s (FUNAAB) physical planning policies, programmes and projects through the Master plan implementation, Capital projects and other development plans in line with Due process, procedures, standards, guidelines using best practices and standards.

Objectives

The objectives of the Directorate are as follows:

  1. Implementation, update and evaluation of the Master Plan
  2. The assessment and Implementation of Capital Projects
  3. Preparation and development of briefs for all new projects in line with Academic briefs, Strategic plans and End Users’ needs
  4. Initiation, Preparation and Evaluation of Physical Action Plans in relation to the National Development Plan, National Universities Commission (NUC’s) and other agencies guidelines.
  5. Coordination of the activities of all Consultants and Contractors on University’s Projects
  6. Development of Budget Estimates and submission of Returns
  7. Preparation of Reports on Physical Planning matters
  8. Ensuring Payment Certification to Contractors and Consultants
  9. Rendering of Internal Consultancy Services to the University
  10. Direct Procurement of small capital projects
  11. Space management and land allocations
