Programmes Overview

Certificate in Moral Development:
Morality is germane to both human and national development. Although it is inherent in human nature, the lust for material wealth is fast eroding it. This is affecting both human and national development in no small way; hence, there is an urgent need to address this problem. This programme focuses on moral development, ethics, and character education. It shall provide a platform for the reorientation of the populace on the importance of moral development in revamping the socioeconomic and political development in the country. Any nation that lost morals can never be developed.

Participants’ Requirements: Ability to read and write, and communicate in English language.
Duration: The duration of the Certificate Programme shall be 16 hours after which certificate will be awarded to participants.
Nature of the Programme: The programme shall be 12 hours lecture periods and 4 hours excursion to qualify participants for the award of the certificate.
Target Audience: Students/Staff on malpractices and gross misdemeanours, civil and public servants; police and paramilitary agencies; transporters and union leaders, market women and men; chiefs, traditional rulers; religious leaders. It is also open to political office holders at local, state and federal levels.
Mode of Lectures: Two modules of 2 hours each per day for 3 days (4 hours x 3 days = 12 hours) plus an excursion of 4 hours on the 4th day shall be scheduled to complete the programme, totaling 16 hours.

Certificate in Leadership Management:
Leadership management is essential for the development of organisational establishment. Every cadre in an organisation deserves leadership management skills and techniques to advance its mission and vision. Leadership is about team work and collective responsibilities to achieve organisational goals. No matter how small an organisation is, its organogram should reflect some levels of leadership responsibilities. This programme shall provide opportunity for leadership training for capacity building for intending leaders, and those in leadership positions in order to promote efficiency.

Participation Requirements: Ability to read and write and communicate in English Language. Evidence of leadership position in any sector of the economy may be an advantage.
Duration: The duration of the Certificate Programme shall be 16 hours after which certificate will be awarded to participants.
Nature of the Programme: The programme shall be 12 hours lecture periods and 4 hours excursion for practical experience.
Target Audience: Aspiring leaders, current leaders and entrepreneurs; civil and public servants; transporters and union leaders, chiefs, and traditional rulers; religious leaders. It is also open to political office holders at local, state and federal levels.
Mode of Lectures: Hybrid. Two modules of 2 hours each per day for 3 days (4 hours x 3 days = 12 hours) plus an excursion of 4 hours on the 4th day shall be scheduled to complete the programme, totaling 16 hours. The excursion shall provide opportunity for free interaction with management team of various organisations, industries, and Universities on how they are managed. Participants shall be made to report of their various experiences and juxtapose them with what they have been taught in class.

Advanced Certificate in Professional Ethics:
As the world is changing, professionalism and ethical conduct are essential for maintaining public trust and confidence in various professions. This programme provides opportunity to equip professionals with knowledge, skills, and values necessary to uphold ethical standards in their respective fields in order to address the problem of unethical behaviours, corruption and professional misconduct in various disciplines such as: journalism, law, engineering, healthcare, accounting, amongst others. This certificate will not only promote ethical conduct but professionalism in various fields.

Admission Requirements: Candidate for admission should have at least 3 O’level credits including English language and at least a pass in Mathematics. Candidates who have pass degree in any relevant discipline can use this certificate as a springboard for admission into Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Ethics.
Duration: The duration of the Certificate Programme shall be 4 weeks.
Nature of Programme: The programme shall be 32 hours lecture periods plus 3 units term paper.
Target audience: Career officers and professionals in civil and public services; Social media and free-lance Journalists; magistrates; extension officers in Agriculture and other fields, entrepreneurs, staff of multinational Corporate Organisations; officers in police, military and para-military services. It is also open to professionals in political offices at local, state and federal levels.

Mode of Lectures: Hybrid. 2 courses at 4 hours per day- twice a week (8 hours x 4 = 32 hours) plus 3 units term paper.

Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Ethics (PGD) and Master Degrees (M. Sc.) in Professional and Applied Ethics
The course schedules and requirements for the Postgraduate Diploma and Master Degree in Professional and Applied Ethics programmes are flexible enough to meet the needs and interests of candidates and career officers by providing them with a good background in general approaches to ethics and a sound practical orientation in dealing with the ethical aspects of professional problems. The programme is designed for decision-makers in various disciplines: government, education, business, medicine, nursing, the media, military, and para-military services. The professional programmes shall also assist candidates to upgrade their professional and academic standing.

Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Ethics (PGD)
Admission Requirements: Candidates for admission should possess a honours degree in any discipline from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta or any other University recognized by the Senate of this University. HND holders with Upper Credit may be admitted into the programme.

Duration: The duration for the Postgraduate Diploma Course is two semesters for full-time candidates and four semesters for part-time candidates.

Graduation Requirements: The postgraduate diploma degree is awarded to candidates who successfully complete and pass at least 35 units including the compulsory, elective, seminar, and acceptable project.

Master Degrees (M. Sc.) in Professional and Applied Ethics
Admission Requirements: In addition to the general requirements established by the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Postgraduate School, candidates for admission to the degree shall be graduates of this University or any other University recognised by the Senate, with degree in the Arts, Sciences, Applied Sciences, Social Sciences and Education or other related disciplines. The possession of relevant professional qualifications and/or experience will be an advantage.

Duration: The duration of the M.Sc. in Professional and Applied Ethics shall be minimum of 4 semesters for full-time and maximum of eight semesters while part-time is minimum of 8 semesters and maximum of 12.

Graduation Requirements: Candidates for this degree programme must satisfy the following conditions:
(i) Successful completion of prescribed course work of at least 35 units, Seminar (4 units), and Practicum (3 units).
(ii) Successful completion of an approved dissertation of 6 units and satisfaction of the examiners on the execution and outcome of the research project.
(iii) Any other condition as may be prescribed by Senate of the University for the Award of a Master’s degree.
