Prof.

ABIOJA Monsuru Oladimeji

Short Profile

Prof. Monsuru Oladimeji Abioja is a Professor in the Department of Animal Physiology at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Nigeria. He joined the University in January, 2008 as Assistant Lecturer and rose to the position in October 2022. He had PhD in Animal Environmental Physiology in 2010. His research interest has been on the management of stress in livestock under the tropical conditions. Quest for knowledge and need to ameliorate the deleterious effects of heat stress in poultry species, especially under the tropical environmental and in the face of ensuing global warming had led to series of research on available, cheap and efficacious natural anti-oxidant sources (honey, lime, coconut water, and extracts from olive leaf and citrus peels) that farmer can use in poultry production. Some works were also done on vitamins (ascorbic acid and tocopherol) as anti-oxidants in animals. His earlier works examined the effects of water deprivation on the growth, welfare and health status of two breeds of goats during hot-dry season. He has publications in reputable and high-impact journals (93) and referred conference proceedings (35) to his credit. He had also supervised 141 undergraduate student projects. At postgraduate level, he had completely supervised 22 candidates as Major and/or Co-Supervisor at Masters and Ph.D levels. He has 11 postgraduate students with on-going research at different stages under his supervision.
