Short Profile

Prof. I. O. O. Aiyelaagbe is Professor of Horticulture (Fruit science and Cropping systems) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria (FUNAAB). He coordinates the Work, Earn and Learn Programme (WELP) of the Organic Agriculture Professionals in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria (OAPTIN) established for building entrepreneurship in organic agriculture among graduates in addition to his teaching and research commitments. He also coordinates the FUNAAB Hub of HortiNigeria a consortium funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria to facilitate the development of a sustainable and inclusive horticulture sector in Nigeria. Previously, he was Senior Visiting Scientist (Fruit Crops in Agroforestry) at the World Agroforestry Centre/ICRAF Nairobi Kenya, Visiting Professor at Coventry University, UK and the University of Ibadan Nigeria, Chief Research Officer (Farming Systems) at the National Horticultural Research Institute, Ibadan Nigeria (NIHORT), Head Department of Horticulture at FUNAAB  (2006 -2007, 2011 -2013) and Director Research and Development Centre, FUNAAB (2007 – 2009).  He served as President-in-Council of the Horticultural Society of Nigeria (HORTSON) 1999 – 2000 and National Coordinating Scientist Organic Agriculture Project in Tertiary Institutions In Nigeria (OAPTIN).
