Short Profile

Motunrayo Ariyo is a Counselling Psychologist and Senior Lecturer in Child Development and Family Studies unit, Department of Home Science and Management, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Ariyo obtained her Doctoral degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria.

She joined the services of the University on 5th September, 2003 as Assistant Lecturer and rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer on 1st October, 2014. She has twenty-three (23) articles, nineteen (19) of which are published in reputable local and foreign journals. She teaches and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has successfully supervised over hundred (100) undergraduate students’ projects and six (6) dissertations. Currently, she is a Major Supervisor for one (1) Ph.D. and three (3) Master Students.

She has also rendered valuable services  at both Departmental and University levels such as; member Postgraduate committee of COLFHEC (2011-2014), Postgraduate Departmental co-ordinator (2010-2014), Member, Research development committee COLFHEC (2009-2014), Member, Admission committee, FUNAAB (2007-2011). Dr. (Mrs) Ariyo is a competent and hardworking lecturer who is committed to duties and responsibilities. Her research has contributed to the capacity development in Child Development and Family Studies as a Counselling Psychologist for parents and adolescents. As a scholar, she has attended several training programmes and conferences. Furthermore, she is very versatile in Guidance and Counselling with respect to Women, Adolescents and Children.

She is a member of the Nigerian Society for Educational Psychologist (NISEP), Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), Family and Consumer Sciences of Nigeria (FACSSON), Nigeria Association of University Women (NAUW), Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and International Federation of University Women (IFUW).
