Ayelotan Tawakaltu began her IT Professional career in February, 2004 as a System Analyst II at the then Computer Centre, UNAAB.  Her first assignment was to understudy IDWorks Software for Data Capturing and production of Identity Cards for members of the university community.  She was an active member of the E-learning Project Team that was constituted in 2005 as she coordinated conversion of students’ records (i.e. academic and bio-data) from files to digital form. Upon completion and handing over of the Registration Portal of the E-learning Project, she was appointed as the Head, Management Information System Unit of ICTREC. In 2012, the university management saddled her with the responsibility of coordination and over-seeing the e-Exam activities, a position she held satisfactorily for 10 years.  She was promoted to Deputy Director II in 2021 and still retains the headship of MIS Unit while directing and providing professional guidance to staff.  The headship of MIS Unit gave her the opportunity to learn Structured Query Language (SQL), a programming language for storing and processing information in a relational database as the major tool to execute her day to day tasks in the unit.

Ayelotan Tawakaltu became an Amazon Certified Cloud Practitioner in July, 2022.
