Dr. (Mrs.) Idowu Oluwaseun Janet is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pasture and Range Management
(PRM), College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM), Federal University of Agriculture,
Abeokuta (FUNAAB). She is a qualified teacher as she has a National Certificate of Education (Upper credit) from
the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta as she is an Associate Fellow, Higher Education Academy,
United Kingdom. She had both her Undergraduate degree (First Class Honours) and Master’s Degree
(Distinction) in the Department of Pasture and Range Management, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria in
2007 and 2011 respectively. She completed her Ph. D degree in 2019 at Newcastle University, United Kingdom.
She is an expert in Ruminant Nutrition and Forage Science with a strong attraction for Forage Production and
Utilization.
While joining the services of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta as a Junior Research Fellow in 2009;
she rose through the ranks to become a Senior Lecturer on October 1, 2020. She is the current Acting Head of
Department who with her appointment dated back to January 2022. She has served the University in various
capacities, among which are, College Representative at the College of Environmental Resource Management Board
(2021), Departmental Postgraduate Examination Officer (2020), Departmental Level Adviser for 100 and 200 level
students in 2023 and 2020 respectively), and Deparmtental Undergraduate Exam officer (2010 – 2013). While on
her Ph.D. programme at the Newcastle University, she was involved in many special assignments and community
services such as a Turnitin Panel Member (2016) and Teaching Demonstrator (2014 – 2019) both at the School of
Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, Newcastle University and as Student Helper at the Annual Meeting in
Belfast (2016). She has been carrying out teaching and research activities. She has supervised and trained over 40
undergraduate and 5 postgraduate students with a goal of producing skilled, experienced, forward, and critical
thinking, and inspired ruminant and forage scientists in readiness for the industry and for the future at large if given
an opportunity.
To her credit, she won the Departmental Best Graduating Student (2007), TETFund scholarship for her PhD
programme in Ruminant Nutrition at Newcastle University, United Kingdom (2013), and has received two TETfund
IBR grant as a team leader and member respectively in the 2018- 2022 allocation.

Her research interest includes forage production through establishment, improved feed utilization through
conservation and supplementation; nutritional evaluation of plants with forage potential; modification and
evaluation of rumen microbial fermentation, characteristics, and kinetics using feed additives (e.g. yeast, fungi,
plant secondary metabolites -PSM), improved feed utilization through fungal (anaerobic and aerobic fungi)
improvement of low-quality forages; methane reduction through the use of PSM and feed modification. She has
over 30 journal publications and several Conference Proceedings. She has undertaken trainings in Gas Safety;
Basic Health & Safety; Chemical Safety & COSHH; Introduction to Learning & Teaching in Higher Education, and
Personal License category B, Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act, 1986 on Animal Handling (all in UK) and training
on Fund/Grant Sourcing and Winning, Proposal writing and Project Management in Nigeria.
Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwaseun Janet IDOWU is a member of Anaerobic Fungi Network (AFN), Nigerian Society for Animal
Production (NSAP), Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN), Society for Grassland Research and
Development in Nigeria, British Society of Animal Scientist (BSAS) and European Association for Animal
Production (EAAP) and with a Personal License category B, Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act, 1986 United
Kingdom.

techniques along with light or fluorescent microscope, and enzymatic activity), in vitro, in sacco and in vivo
techniques.
3. Investigation of growth and productive performance of goats fed microbial additives containing diets as
alternative improved ruminants dry season feed.
4. The use of anaerobic fungi (direct fed microbe) in altering the rumen microbial composition towards proper
utilization of dry season grasses by ruminants.
