Prof Oni obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2009 from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria specializing in Ruminant Nutrition. He was employed as Planning Officer II, Directorate of Academic Planning, under the Vice Chancellor’s office in UNAAB from September 2005 to April 2006. In May 2006, he was appointed as Lecturer II in the Department of Animal Nutrition and rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Ruminant Nutrition effective 1st October 2021. Professor Oni was a Member of Work Package 4, Nigeria Team, GRATITUDE Project (Gains and Losses in Root and Tuber) sponsored by European Union, 2012 – 2015 and a recipient of TETFUND Research Grants in the University. Professor Oni was the Acting Head, Department of Animal Nutrition, FUNAAB (2019–2021) and a member of University Senate representing Congregation and as Head of Department. He has equally served the University as a member of several Standing and Ad-hoc Committees too numerous to mention. He is a Consultant to Fish Shoal Nigeria and the Aquatic Hub Afrique Network Joint Consortium, a Value Chain Development Firm (VCDF) with the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) and World Bank. Professor Oni has attended many local and international training programs. He has published over 60 publications in both local and international journal outlets as well as in refereed conference proceedings. To date, he has successfully supervised and co-supervised over hundred undergraduate project students, about thirty-five Masters of Agriculture dissertations and six PhD thesis. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS); Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP); Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN) and International Goat Association (IGA). He was also a visiting Professor on sabbatical leave in the Department of Animal Production, Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin.
