SANNI SilifatAjoke (Nee Aboaba)graduated with Bachelor of Science degreein the Department of Food Science and Technology in 1992, Master (1999) and Doctor of Philosophy (2009) Degrees at the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. She joined the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in 2000 as Assistant Lecturer and became Professor of Human Nutrition (Food Composition and Utilization) in 2017 in FUNAAB. She is the current Head, Nutrition and Dietetics Department, November, 2021 to date. She was the acting Head, Nutrition and Dietetics Department, June 2010 to June 2014, member of FUNAAB Senate from June 2010 till date. She is also a member of Senate Committee on Examination Results (SECOSER), May 2010 to date and a former Secretary, National Association of University Women, Abeokuta Chapter, 2000-2004.She was a former financial Secretary (2013-2015), General Secretary (2012-2013) and Treasurer (2010-2011), Dawah Front of Nigeria, Abeokuta Chapter.She has won Vice Chancellor commendation letter as member of the Senate Committee on Examination Results, 2nd July 2010; Dean, COLAMRUCS appreciation & commendation for good report of the adhoc committee on the establishment of the new College of Food Science and Human Ecology, December, 2008; Dean COLAMRUCS Commendation letter of invaluable contribution and commitment to computation of results, October, 2008; and HOD, Nutrition and Dietetics Commendation letter of outstanding contributions to Department growth, 2008.Silifat is a member, African Nutrition Society, Nutrition Society of Nigeria, West African Association of Food Science and Technology, Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology and International Union of Food Science and Technology. Her research focus includesMicro nutrient fortification of foods, consumption pattern, nutritional value and safety of street vended foods, nutrient composition and acceptability of complementary foods from sweetpotato, groundnut and crayfish and Consumption pattern, standardization and nutrient contents of indigenous foods. In terms of contribution to knowledge, Sanni published over 40 Technical Journal articles; 1 technical report; and 10 Conference proceedings. She has supervised in collaboration with colleagues’ well over 200 undergraduates, 30 Master and 5 PhDs. SilifatSannihas made outstanding contributions to scientific knowledge on food, nutrition and people working on food composition studies and assessment of common Nigerian food commodities, street vended foods including their safety; and food fortification processes. She is a team player, dedicated researcher and role model.She is happily married to a Professor and blessed with Children.
