VC Charges ICAN Members on Ethics

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako has charged members of the Institute of Chartered Accountant (ICAN) to take issues bothering on ethics of the accounting profession serious.

Professor Salako made this charge while receiving members of the ICAN Abeokuta District Society Branch who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

Addressing the Chartered Accountants, the Vice-Chancellor, declared that the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has many certified and chartered accountants in the system, and also those who are yet to join the fold of the accounting institute.

Professor Salako who harped on professionalism tasked the accountants to take the ethics of the institute serious with its members and be firm in enforcing it. “Please, emphasize more on ethical issues, do not give out false information,” he charged.

He applauded the University Bursary staff, who are ICAN members for their display of professionalism, thoroughness and trustworthiness and promised that FUNAAB is ready to support the institute anytime they call for the managements’ support.

Earlier, while addressing the gathering, the Abeokuta District Chairman of the Society, Mr. Atilade Bolarinwa expressed their joy for the warm welcome receive from the Vice-Chancellor and his management team.

Mr. Bolarinwa described the relationship between FUNAAB and ICAN as legendary over the years, saying that FUNAAB has been appointing their members as the University’s Bursar.

He intimated the Vice-Chancellor on the activities of the institute for the year and solicited for the University’s support when needed.
