The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has charged students of the Leadership and Management Certificate Programme to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training towards personal development, career advancement and national growth.
The Vice-Chancellor gave the charge recently, while receiving participants in his office at the conclusion of the 4-Day Certificate course, organised by the Philosophy and Leadership Studies Unit of the Institute of Communication and General Studies (ICGNS).
Addressing the participants, Prof. Kehinde commended them for their dedication, discipline and decision to enrol in the programme, describing the initiative as timely and highly relevant in today’s rapidly evolving global environment.
He emphasised that academic qualifications alone were no longer sufficient for success in the contemporary workplace, stressing the importance of leadership capacity, emotional intelligence, communication skills and adaptability. According to the Vice-Chancellor, the programme was designed to reshape mindsets and equip participants with the competencies required to thrive in dynamic environments where innovation, creativity and character are highly prized.
He assured the Institute of the University Management’s continued support towards broadening the scope and societal impact of its professional development programmes.
Earlier, the Director of ICGNS, Prof. Remi Aduradola, disclosed that the just-concluded training represented the Institute’s second certificate programme, adding that arrangements were already in progress for a third edition. She appreciated the University Management for providing an enabling environment for the Institute’s programmes to thrive.
Also speaking, the Programme Leader, Philosophy and Leadership Studies, Prof. Emmanuel Akintona, noted that participants had completed the academic aspect of the training and would proceed on an excursion as part of the practical component of the programme.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mr. Seun Fabiyi expressed appreciation to the University Management and facilitators, stating that the programme had broadened their perspectives and inspired them to pursue greater accomplishments in life. He pledged the commitment of the participants to align with the vision and mission of the University while putting into practice the values and lessons gained during the training.
