“You Are The Best!” – Adatan New Area Commander Commends FUNAAB VC

The Area Commander, Adatan Area Police Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Uduak Ita has commended Prof. Kolawole Salako declaring him as the best  Vice-Chancellor,given his unparallel support to the Force in service delivery.

 ACP Ita made the declaration during her courtesy visit to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), on Thursday September 9, 2021.

The Area Commander who was in the company of her Divisional Police Officers and the Adatan Area Command Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) team, led by its Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Akinlabi expressed joy for being in FUNAAB especially the warm reception accorded her.

Addressing the Vice-Chancellor and his Management Team, ACP Ita noted that since her assumption of office as the Area Commander, she has heard of the achievements of the  Vice-Chancellor especially his unrivalled support to bettering and enhancing community policing.

            She added that apart from being the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salako is also a member of the Elite Group of the PCRC who has maintained cordial relationship with all the DPOs around his jurisdiction.

 Consequently, the Area Commander emphatically declared Prof. Salako as “The Best”.

            Speaking on her visit, ACP Ita assured that her coming is to synergise with the University for the assistance it has given the Police formation so far.

            In her words, ACP Ita said, “I appreciate the good things you have done. Therefore, we must work together to have a crime free community”.

            She promised to do her best to ensure that her area of jurisdiction and the state at large succeed in terms of Community Policing.

            Furthermore, ACP Ita promised to be operational in handling every case that comes to her with due process assuring that she will also  explore the mechanism of Alternative Dispute and Restorative Justice in restoring peace, settling disagreement and forestalling unity among the people, especially the young ones.

            Declaring her love for children and youths, ACP Ita noted that  FUNAAB environment is made up of youths and solicited the University cooperation to ensure that the youths are brought back to normalcy.

            According to her, “With the experience I have, , I will give you my best within the ambit of the law”,

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salako who had earlier welcomed the ACP and her entourage  identified some common ground where he and the Police Chief had some things in common in terms of gender sensitivity and passion for children.

            The Vice-Chancellor hinted that his Administration is the first in FUNAAB that appointed a female Dean of Student Affairs, who according to him is currently doing well in the Unit.

            He further informed that FUNAAB maintained good relationship with the University of Uyo and Akwa-Ibom State (ACP Ita’s home state), which is also culturally close to the homestead  of FUNAAB’s current Chancellor, The Obong of Calabar. 

            The Vice-Chancellor commended and appreciated the timely intervention of the Police during the recent kidnapping of a FUNAAB student, especially for rescuing him from his abductors  under 48 hours.

He pleaded with the ACP and the Police in general to do more in checkmating the negative activities of students in the private hostels outside the University Campus, whom are mostly victims of peer pressure.

Also speaking, the PCRC Chairman, Adatan Area Command, Hon. Taiwo Akinlabi chronicled FUNAAB’s un-paralleled role in the dispensation of Prof. Salako which established Harmony Police Division.             He appreciated the Vice Chancellor for all his positive contributions towards ensuring peace and tranquility on Campus and host communities.
