Meanwhile, the University under the leadership of Prof. Kolawole Salako has been rated high for its cutting-edge town and gown relationship; good extension services to neighbouring rural communities; prompt response to security needs and rendering adequate security guidelines to its students on and off the campus.
The accolades aforementioned were showered profusely on the Prof. Salako led Management by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo; the Agura of Gbagura, Egbaland, Oba Babajide Bakre, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CO Edward Ajogun and the Chairman, Transition Committee, Odeda Local Government, Hon. Semiu Bola Lawal.
Speaking at the Ake Palace, Oba Gbadebo said FUNAAB was a high flying University but came crashing after it rocked by crises.
The Monarch, however, expressed joy that FUNAAB name is being restored to it days of glory with the inception Prof. Salako as Vice Chancellor.
Addressing the Panel, the Agura of Gbagura, Oba Babajide Bakre noted that Gbaguras has cordial relationship with FUNAAB, describing the Vice-Chancellor’s town and gown relationship as excellent.
He added that FUNAAB is sitting on Gbagura’s land and the Gbagura’s are ready to give more land should the university want more.
Welcoming Prof. Essien and Panel members, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Ajogun said that the Police and the Management of FUNAAB have a long history of beneficial relationship.
The CP informed the Panel that in 2018, FUNAAB under the leadership of Prof. Salako constructed the Police post in Harmony Estate which today has increased Police visibility in the area and helped to increase security of lives and properties around Isolu, Harmony and FUNAAB environs.
CP Ajogun also noted that Prof. Salako and his team were the first to extend palliative to the Police during COVID-19 peak period, which according to him paved the way and prompted others to key in and see the vulnerability and importance of Police during the period. He charged other universities to follow suit.
The Chairman, Transition Committee of Odeda Local Government, Hon. Semiu Bola Lawal, on welcoming the team, described the relationship between FUNAAB and the Local Government as beneficial over the years.
He noted that FUNAAB through its extension services has trained a lot of farmers in the Local Government, appreciating the impact of the University .
The highpoint of the courtesy visit by the 2021 Visitation Panel was the presentation of the Call For Memoranda to each of the stakeholders visited.
