Articulating the contributions of the College to the University, Prof. Dairo disclosed that “As part of our (COLENG) little contribution as Engineers to the University, we have been involved in the palliative measures channeled towards the maintenance of Camp/Alabata Road by engaging and challenging some of our students to display their ability and capacity in fixing the road”
“As a result, they have constructed Comfort Stations through blocks producing machine donated by the former University Governing Council Chairman, Dr. Aboki Zhawa”, he added.
Speaking further, the Dean informed that COLENG also enhanced service delivery to the University with “The location, designing and relocation of the Water Dam from where it was to where it is today by doing geotechnical and geophysical survey to prevent submerging of the Students Centre and some other places.”
He recalled that because of the impact, COLENG won the Award for Productivity in the last Administration.
Prof Dairo stated that “We are here to tell the V. C. that we are readily available whenever the University beckon on us on any area that is in dire need of our expertise.’’
The Dean thereafter appealed to the Vice-Chancellor to use his good office to facilitate the building of a befitting Workshop for the College and recruitment of academic staff, especially from Assistant Lecturer to Lecturer I, among other cadres of staff who are very relevant to the College.
The College also requested for provision of material testing machine which if provided will generate a lot of income into the coffer of the University.
Prof. Dairo extolled the virtues of the Vice-Chancellor describing him as a prudent manager of resources, a visionary leader and a father to all, who is passionate about the welfare and development of staff and students.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the entire staff and students of COLENG for felicitating with him on his appointment and for deeming it fit to pay him a courtesy visit ditto the University Management.
Prof. Kehinde described COLENG as one of the most peaceful Colleges on campus that is exemplary and worthy of emulation, charging the College to keep it up.
However, the Vice-Chancellor charged the College to be more visible in the University saying “When you are visible others can quickly call upon you. I know that Engineering is a reserved area but that doesn’t remove the fact colleagues and other Colleges are in need of your expertise.
