Funding: Pro-Chancellor Commends FG

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the University, Dr. Barr. Aboki Zhawa has lauded the Federal Government for ensuring regular funding of universities. The Pro-Chancellor made this known during the Council’s inspection of the newly-acquired equipment for various laboratories and offices in the University. 

Governing Council members, being led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako, to inspect the newly-acquired lawn-mowers, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge.

 While commending the Federal Government for the release of funds to equip universities, the Pro-Chancellor lauded the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako for making judicious use of available funds, adding that with the utilisation of funds in a prudent manner, there would be development. Expressing his satisfaction with what he saw, the Pro-Chancellor disclosed that the project management and procurement teams of the University had done well in terms of hard work and resilience and for ensuring proper functioning of the equipment, despite the economic challenges facing the country.

  He charged members of staff of the University to appreciate team spirit, saying what is required is the “Spirit team needed in the University to push things forward”. Speaking further, he challenged FUNAAB to ensure that all research outputs were put into practice by ensuring that spare parts for the procured equipment are made locally thereby preventing the University from spending scarce resources. He encouraged all to adopt a good maintenance culture. Dr. Barr. Zhawa charged the University Management to make all products and goods produced on campus affordable, to enable members of the University community benefit from purchasing such products.
