In the year 2022, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta entered into a partner Service Agreement with the British American Tobacco Nigerian Foundation (BATN, Foundation) for a Graduate Agripreneurship programme funded by BATNF.
So far, 6 (six) agripreneurs have been selected (for phase I and II) to participate in the programme and were given one million, Five hundred thousand naira (N1.5m) each for their projects. The process for the third phase of the programme has commenced, therefore qualified candidates (either Male or Female) with the following criteria can apply.
Selection criteria:
1. Applicant must be a graduate of FUNAAB from any of the following Colleges: COLAMRUD, COLANIM, COLERM and COLPLANT; who has completed the mandatory NYSC, is passionate about agriculture and is interested in it as a business.
2. The applicant must be between the ages of 21 to 35 years and graduated within four years of the commencement of the project.
3. Must have demonstrated his entrepreneurial skills through the establishment or involvement in any agricultural enterprise.
4. Must be ready to establish his/her agribusiness (Crop, fish or livestock) around the University premises for the duration of the programme. The livestock MUST be in Poultry farming – Broiler Production and laying hens (point of cage/lay).
5. Must be ready to sign an undertaking with the University on the terms of the project.
Applications are invited for expression of interest (EOI) from ex-FUNAABITES who meet the criteria above. The EOI should include:
i. A business plan, including how the N1.5m will be utilized,
ii. A brief essay on why he/she should be selected.
Completed applications should be address to the Office of the Vice–Chancellor and submitted electronically to: dvcd@funaab.edu.ng on or before Friday, April 19, 2024.
