In the spirit of giving back to their alma mater, and making the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), stand-out as a competitive University in the 21st century, three prominent
alumni of the University have promised to rally huge resources and other former FUNAAB students
within their reach to ensure a befitting endowment to the University.
The three highly influential Nigerians who were former students of the University are Director, BudgIT, Engr. Oluseun Onigbinde; (alongside his wife, Oluwaseun), in collaboration with Founder, Aquatic Hub Afrique Network, Mr. Steve Okeleji, and Lead Partner, Oxlade Consulting, Mr. Adeniyi Agunloye.
The pledge to commit more resources to uplift the University was made
during an appreciation gathering organised by the University Management in conjunction with the Nimbe Adedipe Library (NAL), for the donors for their kind gestures in repainting the Library, and giving
it a befitting facelift.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde expressed his gratitude to the former FUNAABites who deemed it fit to give back to the system which has invested so much in them.
Prof. Kehinde, represented by the Deputy ViceChancellor Development (DVCD), Prof. Kola Adebayo said the University was honoured by the presence of the former students, adding that it was a special thing of joy for FUNAAB.
He noted that it was of immeasurable value when FUNAAB products look back to give to the University, stressing that it was always a joyful moment when third parties come to fund University projects as government provided funds are inadequate.
Earlier in his Opening Remarks, the University Librarian (UL), Dr. Kehinde Owolabi expressed his excitement, and satisfaction towards the team, stating that this would be his first time witnessing former students of FUNAAB giving back to the University.
Dr. Owolabi disclosed that giving NAL a face lift has been his prayers even before he became the UL, recounting that he spoke to the Vice-Chancellor about it, and he said that some people had promised to paint the building.
He commended them for a job well done, adding that for them to have picked the Library showed the importance of a Library in the university system.
