An illustrious alumna of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) and Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership, Hon. Rinsola Abiola, has charged FUNAAB students to remain focused and envision themselves as tomorrow’s leaders.

Hon. Abiola made this call during the 3rd Edition of the Post-University Degree Summit 2025, themed “Bridging the Gap From Campus to Leadership,” held at the Postgraduate School and organised by the FUNAAB Alumni Association.

Noting that FUNAAB produces graduates equipped in both character and learning, she encouraged students to prioritise their studies and develop innovative ideas that can transform society. She also advised them to steer clear of unproductive use of social media, stressing that education should never be viewed as a scam.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Dean of the College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM), Prof. Olusegun Oguntoke, applauded the Alumni Association for organising impactful initiatives. He urged students to take every presentation seriously, noting that FUNAAB was committed to nurturing future leaders, job creators, and change agents.

In his Goodwill Message, the Global President of the FUNAAB Alumni Association, Mr. Bolaji Gbadamosi, represented by the Global Vice President I, Mr. Sikiru Salako, commended the Alumni Association for consistently impacting the lives of students. He appreciated the speakers for their dedication and acknowledged the unwavering support of the University Management under Prof. Kehinde’s leadership.

Delivering a lecture titled “Navigating the Job Market Dynamics: Individual and Institutional Roles,” Mr. Waheed Oni urged students to equip themselves beyond academics by acquiring relevant skills. He warned against misrepresenting themselves on social media, cautioning that such actions could have future consequences.

Another speaker, Mr. Adegoke Adefemi, in his paper “Effective Communication and Networking for Leadership Roles,” highlighted the importance of intentional growth, communication, and networking in leadership. He encouraged students to build their professional networks and join relevant organisations to boost their career prospects.

The Chairman of the Ibadan Branch of the Alumni Association, Mr. Bamidele Olalere, noted that the summit was designed to instil strong leadership values in FUNAAB students, preparing them for life beyond the university. He noted that today’s world is highly competitive and students must be well-prepared to thrive.

The President of the Student Union, Comrade Adeyemi Ibraheem, appreciated the alumni for reconnecting with their alma mater. He advised fellow students to begin practising the kind of leaders they aspire to be, noting that mistakes made on campus can be corrected with the guidance of mentors and lecturers.

Present at the event were several executives and members of the Alumni Association, including the Global Vice-President II, Mr. Azeez Salawu, who was the convener of the summit with other Branch Chairmen of the Association and many students.

Meanwhile, the event featured breakout sessions, panel discussions, and the presentation of certificates to participants.
