In an inspiring move to rekindle intellectual curiosity, creativity, and motivation among young minds, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is set to relaunch “I HAVE A DREAM”, a five-minute inspirational radio talk show originally created by Kola Obadimu Jnr.
The groundbreaking initiative, powered by FUNAAB and produced in collaboration with FUNAAB International School (FUNIS), is designed to provide an enabling platform for intellectual interaction, mental development, and the nurturing of future leaders, aligning with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of the Child and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Originally launched at the inception of FUNIS, “I HAVE A DREAM” was a promotional strategy that evolved into a widely celebrated radio programme broadcast on Paramount FM for over five years under the leadership of the former Principal Mrs. Adeola Olumide. The programme significantly enhanced the reputation of FUNIS, increased enrollment, and showcased the creative potential of its students.
Its impact was felt beyond the school, captivating parents, guardians, policymakers, and society at large. Now, in response to overwhelming public demand, FUNAAB is bringing back “I HAVE A DREAM” to inspire a new generation.
The revival of “I HAVE A DREAM” is aimed at:
✅ Encouraging child participation in line with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of the Child
✅ Promoting FUNAAB International School (FUNIS) as a hub for academic excellence
✅ Inspiring young listeners—The Generation Next—to dream big and take action
✅ Persuading leaders and policymakers to create an enabling environment for youth empowerment
✅ Motivating parents and guardians to enrol their children at FUNIS.
The programme would be uniquely anchored by FUNIS students, helping them develop communication skills, creativity, and confidence. It would also feature episodic FUNIS advertisements to showcase the school’s offerings.
🔹 Broadcast Frequency: Two times a week commencing from April 2025.
🔹 Media: FUNAAB Radio 89.5FM, Rockcity 101.9FM, and other partnering stations
🔹 Language: English
🔹 Target Audience: Children, policymakers, educators, and the young at heart
🔹 Duration: 5 minutes per episode
With FUNAAB Radio 89.5FM and Rockcity 101.9FM at the forefront of the revival, along with other possible media partners, the return of “I HAVE A DREAM” is poised to rekindle the spark of inspiration, shape young minds, and reinforce FUNIS’ commitment to academic and moral excellence.
Meanwhile, special appreciation has gone to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the FUNAAB Schools Management Board, and the Principal of FUNIS, Mr. Olusola Ilori, for reviving the inspiring project.
