The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako has commended the 2019 Batches A and B corps members serving in the University for contributing towards the development of FUNAAB. The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Dean, Student Affairs, Prof. Mobolaji Omemu, while speaking at the commissioning of the project tagged “FUNAABOT Bus Stand”, appreciated the corps members for working together to erect the bus stand, stating that their ability to work as a team had led to the success of the project.
“What you have just done shows that you are all good team players because there are some people that would desire to do something but somehow, they would not be able to agree on what to do. It means you are all good team players, self-motivated, as you can start something and finish within a year”, he said. Prof. Salako stated that the NYSC scheme was set up by the Federal Government to engage Nigerian graduates in nation building, and to also develop self-motivated youths and graduates, adding that it is aimed at encouraging oneness, irrespective of religion, tribe or ethnicity.
He appreciated the corps members for their doggedness in making the project a reality.
The Internal Corps Liaison Officer (ICLO), Mr. Mayowa George, stressed that it was a privilege to serve and contribute towards the development of the University. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor for accommodating corps members by giving them an opportunity to serve in FUNAAB, adding that the University Management had made it possible for them to enjoy free transportation services within the campus.
He noted that the commissioned bus stand would serve as a shed and relaxation centre for staff and students while waiting for buses. According to him, “the stand will serve as shed for students and staff to relax. When students are going home in the evening, they can easily come here to get their tickets and move straight into the bus”. He commended his fellow corps members for working with him to achieve success, stressing that the challenges experienced during the project had motivated them to give their best.
The Director, Physical Planning Department of the University, Arch. Babatunde Anasanwo, while appreciating the FUNAAB Corpers Association (FUCA), stated that it was a thing of joy for them to have put in place an extension to the existing infrastructure despite the financial bottlenecks they experienced. “It is very complimentary and it will serve a purpose for the University” he said.
Present at the occasion were the Registrar, Dr. ‘Bola Adekola, represented by Mr. Bolaji Balogun; the Deputy Registrar II, Mrs. Oluwakemi Banuso, represented by Mr. Gafar Adewuyi; Head, Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD), Prof. Olubunmi Ashimolowo; and Director, FUNAABOT, Dr. Waidi Abdul, represented by Mr. Chukwuanugo Ibeto; who expressed appreciation for the Corps members’ gesture.
