In a bid to improve the services of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), a new Toyota Hiace bus was recently handed over to the Director of Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) and Dean of College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET).
The VTH is expected to improve its income-generating capacity with facilities provided since the inception of the current administration of the University. The facilities are to further enhance Scholarship, Research and Community Engagement.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako during the handing-over recalled his administration’s focus on the VTH since 2018, and noted that the current administration had provided borehole, state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and the Cows Holding Yard to the VTH and COLVET to enhance productivity.
It would also be recalled that the current administration has supplied many equipment to the VTH, some of which were Animal Patient Monitor, Diathermy Machine. Hydraulic Surgical Table for large animals, and the Hydraulic Surgical Table for small animals. Others were the Ultrasound, Digital X-Ray, Automatic X-Ray Machines and a brand new 4-wheel Drive Hilux Pick-Up van.
The availability of these facilities contributed significantly to the recent accreditation given the University’s Veterinary Medicine by the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN). These facilities also contributed to the approval given by the University to increase the number of students applying to study Veterinary Medicine from 30 to 60, recently.
Speaking after taking charge of the vehicle, the Dean, COLVET, Prof. Adebayo Akinloye alongside the Director, VTH, Prof. Ernest Ojo appreciated and acknowledged the passion of the Vice-Chancellor to reinvigorate the VTH.
