The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, today, April 29, 2026, paid a working visit to the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (CENTS), where he engaged with 200-Level students undergoing entrepreneurial training, as the programme approaches its conclusion on May 6, 2026.

Addressing the students during the visit, the Vice-Chancellor urged them to take full advantage of the training, noting its relevance in today’s dynamic and competitive economy. He stressed that the University remains committed to equipping students with practical skills that complement their academic pursuits and enhance their employability.

Prof. Kehinde encouraged the students to view the training beyond a compulsory academic requirement, describing it as a strategic opportunity to develop competencies that could serve as hobbies, alternative income streams, or full-scale business ventures after graduation. He further advised them to remain diligent, creative, and innovative, stressing that such attributes are essential for success in entrepreneurship.

Speaking also, the Director of CENTS, Prof. Sakiru Akinbode, stated that the trainees were currently receiving hands-on instruction in over 21 vocational areas, including fashion designing, bag making, photography, videography, digital marketing, information management and content creation for social media, laptop repairs, and the production of household cleaning materials, among others.

Prof. Akinbode noted that the training, which commenced on April 1, 2026, forms part of the ETS 206 practical course and holds weekly on Wednesdays between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. He emphasised that the programme was embedded in a University-wide course for all 200-Level students, ensuring inclusivity and exposure to practical, income-generating skills. According to him, although the training has been scheduled to conclude the following week, the visit was facilitated earlier to accommodate the Vice-Chancellor’s tight schedule.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, the Director explained that the visit was also aimed at motivating students and reinforcing FUNAAB’s entrepreneurial orientation. He stressed that agriculture, in line with national priorities, should be embraced as a viable and profitable enterprise rather than a subsistence activity, describing modern agriculture as a pathway to wealth creation and economic prosperity.

The Deputy Director, CENTS, Dr. Abiodun Oyelakin, and other officials of CENTS were also in attendance.
