Works Directorate Celebrates Outgoing Director, Engr. Olawole Akinyele

The Directorate of Works and Services, today, October 15, 2024, organised a Send-forth ceremony to honour its outgoing Director, Engr. Olawole Akinyele, for his exemplary leadership and successful completion of tenure.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, commended Engr. Akinyele for his proactive approach to handling the responsibilities of his office. Prof. Kehinde praised the outgoing Director’s dedication and professionalism, noting that his exceptional work ethic has earned him the opportunity to continue serving as a member of staff at the University’s Works and Services Directorate.

Describing Engr. Akinyele as hardworking, calm, and diligent, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted how his approach made the job easier for everyone. Prof. Kehinde further emphasised the importance of the event, attributing its success to Engr. Akinyele’s strong relationship with his colleagues. He urged the Works and Services team to extend the same camaraderie shown to Engr. Akinyele to the newly appointed Director.

In his Goodwill Message, the University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, appreciated Engr. Akinyele for always being prepared for emergencies and his unwavering dedication. Similarly, the Ag. Director, Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS), Dr. Emmanuel Bankole, noted that the Directorate of Works and Services played a vital role in the University’s operations. He lauded Engr. Akinyele for setting a high standard within the Directorate, acknowledging that his impact was felt across the University Community.

Speaking also, the Chairman, Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), FUNAAB Branch, Com. Samson Edviri thanked the University Management for providing Engr. Akinyele with the conducive environment necessary for success, while the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), FUNAAB Branch Chairman, Com. Olurotimi Fasunwon described the outgoing Director as a devoted family man who treated all staff equally. He commended the Directorate for organising the celebration, encouraging other Departments to emulate their gesture.

In his remarks, Engr. Akinyele expressed gratitude to the University Community and his colleagues for their support throughout his tenure. He emphasised that the recognition he received was a challenge for him to continue working hard and contributing to the University’s success. He encouraged the staff to maintain their cooperation with future Directors in the Directorate.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of an Excellence Award to Engr. Akinyele and gifts, including foodstuffs from Dr. Emmanuel Bankole.
