It was commendation galore as the Association of Deans of Agriculture in Nigeria Universities (ADAN) adjudged Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Agricultural Incubation Centre (AIC) as the best in Nigeria and Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde as a pragmatic Vice – Chancellor.
ADAN also showered encomium profusely on the University describing it as the best in the implementation of Bio-Ethanol project in Nigeria and also marvelled at the high level of infrastructural and aesthetical transformation of the University within a short period of time.
Sharing the outcome of ADAN visit to the University Agricultural Incubation Centre (AIC) during a Courtesy Call on the Vice – Chancellor, the highly elated President of the Association, Prof. Olumuyiwa Jayeoba while speaking rated it as the best in Nigeria.
According to him, “Since we came, we have moved around. I can tell you authoritatively that so far FUNAAB Agricultural Incubation Centre is the most utilized, the cleanest, the most operational and it is ready to go”.
Speaking further, Prof. Jayeoba also rated the University high saying “FUNAAB is No 1 in Bio-Ethanol implementation” in the nation’s Ivory Towers.
The President of ADAN also extolled the leadership quality of the Vice – Chancellor, especially in sustaining and improving the standard of the University Agricultural Incubation Center and Agriculture in general.
According to him, ” During the visit to the AIC, I was told that the VC has granted almost every prayers even beyond what we are thinking. He’s already thinking far ahead of us in the utilization of the facility”.
Prof Jayeoba, on behalf of ADAN however, charged the University Management to maximize the capacity of the facility by exposing some of the students, especially those in 400 level to training on how to use it, in order to be self-reliant and wealth creators after graduating from the institution.
The President of ADAN, who used the visit to inform the Vice – Chancellor that FUNAAB is the next host of the Association’s Conference expressed joy that FUNAAB has the wherewithal to host the event.
He described the new Senate Extension Building as a beautiful and conducive venue to host the Conference and the serenity and greenery of the University Permanent site as alluring for the event.
He described the Vice – Chancellor, the Secretary of ADAN and Dean of College of Plant and Animal Science (COLPLANT), Prof. Joe Atungwu, the new Chairman Committee of Deans and Directors (CODAD) and Dean of Animal Science and Nutrition (COLANIM), Prof. Olusiji Sowande and the Dean of (COLAMRUD), Prof Emmanuel Fakoya as “bulldozers” whose track records in the Association is an indication that the Conference will be a huge success when hosted by FUNAAB.
Responding, the Vice – Chancellor, Prof. Kehinde thanked ADAN for the visit and more importantly, ” For being there for the agricultural sector, especially the training section and for expanding the frontiers of agriculture”.
Prof. Kehinde disclosed that as a member of ADAN, he is proud to identify with the Association.
Prof Kehinde who described ADAN’s commendation of the utilization of FUNAAB AIC as a challenge to do more for the Centre disclosed that the University had already awarded contract to re-roof the Centre.
He also expressed the readiness of the University to purchase a capacity boosting machine known as Angel 5000.
